Lidl Plough Lane plans get thumbs up

We note that planning officers at Merton Borough Council are recommending approval for the Lidl application to open a store in Plough Lane, directly opposite the spot where AFC Wimbledon and Galliard Homes want to put their own ‘much-needed’ retail unit.

Lidl store plans for Plough Lane: should AFCW be worried?

Missed opportunity to boost local economy

It will be interesting to see whether members of the planning committee accept the officers’ recommendation to approve the supermarket scheme – or whether they are prepared to turn it down because they’ve already promised their football club mates exclusive rights to shopping space in the area…

Afterall, they have already said that one of the reasons a school couldn’t possibly go on the site is because they’ve been saving it for AFCW.

Footie good, school bad?
